Grandfathers and their families Part 1

Crowther Family

Grandad Crowther was the eldest of a family of 6 children.  Their parents were Thomas Frederick Crowther, born 1858 in Liverpool and died in 1900 in Govan, Glasgow, and Hannah Isabella Wouldhave, born 1861 in North Shields and died in 1911 in Jarrow.

His siblings were:

Alice Amy Crowther, born 1894 in Jarrow and died in 1975 in Halifax

Ethel Crowther, born 1899 and died in 1900
Josiah (Jos) Roberts Crowther, born in 1903 in Jarrow and emigrated to Australia in 1925

This photo was taken at Joe's wedding (1953) and includes Jos third from the

Grandad's borther in law, George Gray, second from left with the pipe,
and George's son in law, John Stelling, third from left. On the right is
Len Fletcher who married Alice Amy.

McAndrew Family

Grandad was the only son and youngest of a family of 6 children.  Their parents were Edward McAndrew, born 1853 in Gateshead and died in 1930 in Wallsend, and Mary Paddon, born 1854 in Newcastle and died in 1938 in Wallsend.

This is an early picture of Grandad, he is standing at the back
on the left, but we're not sure of the occasion.

Grandad, Edward McAndrew, was born in 1893 in Longbenton and died in 1969 in Wallsend.

This picture shows Grandad posing
with a viola (he couldn't play!)

His siblings were:
Mary Ann McAndrew, born in 1879 in Felling
Bridget McAndrew, born in 1881 in Felling
Catherine McAndrew, born 1885 in Gosforth
Ellen McAndrew, born in 1888 in Longbenton
Sarah McAndrew, born in 1890 in Longbenton

Unfortunately we have't found out any further information about the sisters at this time other than they all had left home by the time of the 1911 census and all were still alive at that time. If anyone can help us out with further information we would be grateful.
